Snapmaker U1 Color 3D Printer Kickstarter Video
The Snapmaker U1 Kickstarter campaign went on to raise $20.6 million from more than 20,000 backers, becoming the most-funded 3D printer campaign in Kickstarter history.
Our challenge was to make the campaign film do more than sell a product: it needed to show how U1 fits into real creative workflows, while making its new features and underlying technology clear enough for a global maker audience to understand.
Snapmaker invited two international creators to shoot in China: Carlos Reyes (@carlos3dprint) from Saint-Brieuc, France, and Brigitte Kock (@variableseams) from London, UK. Blayne Sapelli is Snapmaker’s own Creative Marketing Manager, but originally from Connecticut. Instead of shooting across multiple countries, we recreated their individual home and studio environments on practical sets in Guangzhou, China, weaving interviews and hands-on product use seamlessly together with CGI sequences that explained how the technology works.
From English scriptwriting and creator communication to live-action production, CGI and post, the film was developed as one integrated campaign piece — helping Snapmaker launch on schedule in a highly competitive window with a product story that was both human and technically clear.
